If you are recovering from an injury or surgery, eventually, you need to return to work. A good return to work program can help you get back on your feet quickly. At Advance Therapy, we can work with you to formulate a program that will help you strengthen and heal your body. If you have a desk job, you can do exercises that can help you avoid strain.
Preventing Lower Back Pain
Sitting in a chair for long periods can cause strain on your back. When you slump and slouch, your back gets out of alignment. One way to relieve that issue is to rock your pelvis while sitting in your chair. Rock back and forth, pushing your hips up, and curving your back inwards. Then tilt your hips backward. Do this several times.
Relieving Wrist Strain
If you use a keyboard, you can end up with carpal tunnel. Typing causes friction from your tendons moving back and forth against each other. The tendons can become fatigued and inflamed. To relieve the problem, put your palms together in a praying position, with the fingers pointing upwards. Keep your hands together, your elbows out, and slowly lower your palms until you can feel them stretch. Hold that stretch for 5 – 10 seconds.
These are just a few good exercises for desk workers. Watch for more tips to help you deal with body strain. If you need physical therapy, contact Advance Therapy today.
